How to deal with being or called fat?
"You're fat. I won't sugarcoat it or you will eat that too!"
Mean words? I know. I have heard them too. But the thing is, none of us really know how to deal with it. For people who are dealing with any other problems like being tagged as tall or dark or ugly or thin, you need to read this too.
I am fat too and for years, I have tried to deal with it by making fat jokes on myself. I mean, if I make fun of me, you won't have to anything to make jokes on me and save me the hurt.
But then, I realized, that while I was doing that, I was also doing the following:
1. Making an excuse for others to exploit other fat people in my name.
2. Degrading myself in my own eyes
3. Losing motivation (I am funny, why do I need to do anything else?)
4. Becoming sad and unhappy without realizing it
5. Became sarcastic, jealous and insecure without realizing it
See, started with the perfect way of dealing with people making fun of me of being fat: make fat jokes about yourself, it will shut the other person up. But what this did was make people automatically assume that it was alright for them to make jokes on me, even on my face and not just that, but to any other fat person, who also may or may not like it while giving the excuse that it was OK to call them fat because I didn't mind it.
NO, I DO MIND IT. It hurts! I get it, "I AM FAT". Let me ask you this, "ARE YOU PERFECT?" At least ask me about how I feel before dragging other people into this.
The thing is, I am OK being fat because it has gotten me not the most popular friends, but the right ones, not the most glamorous of relationships, but the most loving and truest ones. What I am NOT OK with is being called one.
I can stand in front of a person and with just one conversation, take out at least 10 faults within them. But do I do that? NO! You want to know why? It's because I am not that low.
People must know this, one day, if I find myself motivated enough, I will be slimmer and more perfect but what will the person who said those fat jokes about me would be? A loser, a liar and probably a pathetic loner who gets off by saying bad things about others.
Someone being fat, ugly, tall or thin won't change their personality, maybe they are awesome people, but it will definitely taint yours as a materialistic and judgmental person. As a very wise person once said(me), "You have to live with the personality, not the pretty because materialistic things are temporary but inner beauty is everything".
So yeah! Dealing with being fat:
Step 1: Call out the person who called you fat or whatever and tell them that it hurts your feeling. People should know they are hurting you by doing what they are doing.
Step 2: Point out there mistakes as well and let them know that nobody's perfect b*tch!
Step 3: Tell them you forgive them but they mustn't continue such behavior.
Step 4: Ask them for their forgiveness because you hurt them too.
Step 5: Try to do something about being fat if you want to, like a little exercising or change in lifestyle. Or just continue to be happy (After all, round is a shape too and you are in shape...be proud of that).
You know even Kim Kardashian is self-conscious, so it is alright for us to be too. But just like her, it shouldn't affect our confidence or what we are doing.
Share this article with people who feel the same and also people you want to know how you feel. It isn't necessarily be about you being fat, it can be anything that hurts you.
Hope it helps you my friend.
Till then, Stay sassy, classy and a bit bad assy.
