What’s your perception?
“There is my story, there is your story and then there is
reality.”
Perception and reality are two different things. What you
may perceive as truth is just your side of the story. You need to be open
minded about things and then if you are lucky enough, then maybe, maybe you
might be able to see the reality.
Our society is bound by these rules that were created eons
ago, by God knows who and nobody questioned them and hence we have a set vision
of what is right and what is wrong.
“He stole money; he
should be imprisoned.” The righteous one said.
“I did it to save the woman who raised me.” The muffled
voice of thief was unheard.
If a man steals something he is imprisoned but shouldn’t his
intentions matter? The probable cause of why they did what they did? Sometimes,
circumstances play a very harsh variable in a lot of things.
Also, if laws are that binding, then why there are so many
loop holes for a guilty man to escape? There are so many things that we miss
out just because we think they are unnecessary whereas they end up playing a
vital role.
Consider this, every country has a different law against
different things, for instance rape, in India you get nothing as a sentence and
the victim is frowned upon but in other countries like Iraq or Iran, the man is
castrated for the same. So, see, people see things differently!
It has been my observation that people are not born evil or
good, they are made into who they are, according to their surrounding and
experiences.
It’s all a matter of perception. What people see is what
they want to see, it is never related to the truth.
I always wonder, who are the people who set rules for what
is right from what is wrong? Shouldn’t everything be questioned? The reality
has no set rule. There are a lot of variables in question. So, it is our duty
to question everything.
We seriously need to consider this: Why are we following
something when we don’t even know who set it and why they set it? What if the
guy who said violence is wrong, was just a coward, how can we say who is wrong
or right?
Until we figure all that out, we need to be accepting
towards other people’s perception as well and understand that maybe, for once,
we might or might not be right.
